Jessie and Anna TFP Photoshoot with the Sony a7ii and Sony Zeiss 35mm f1.4

Working with a single subject in a TFP model session is the type of photography collaboration that I love doing. I keep the shoots simple and mostly outdoors. This gives me a chance to explore city streets and find unique areas that I normally do not see.

The TFP Models – Jessie and Anna

This particular TFP shoot was a little different for me. It allowed me to get slightly out of my comfort zone. I had a great time working with Jessie and Anna.

I’ve worked with Anna before on a few TFP shoots, and she is always a pleasure to work with. This was my first collaboration with Jessie, and I will admit I was extremely jealous of his hair.

The downtown Mckinney area is old and provides some awesome brick walls and textured streets. This created a cool backdrop for our shoot. We wanted to do a more simplistic street fashion shoot.

Not necessarily a couples shoot but wanted the models to be close and comfortable posing with each other. Both models took direction really well and I got some great individual shots as well.

What I learned from this shoot

The time of the shoot was around 6:00 pm and the natural sunlight was fading pretty fast. I I knew I wouldn’t have much time to shoot so kept the models moving around as much as possible. We tried to stay in the small alleys due to traffic and this cut more light than I anticipated.

I wish I had an off-camera flash with me for this, but I will pack one for next time. This shoot was done with my original Sony a7 paired with the Sony 35mm f/1.4 lens. I was shooting wide open at f/1.4 and also switched to my Sony 85mm f/1.4 G Master for portraits. The shoot was fun, but next time I will plan on starting around 1 hour earlier if possible.
